Össur Formfit® Foam Ankle Stirrup
Lightweight, stable and comfortable, the Össur Formfit® Foam Ankle Stirrup is designed to support the ankle following injury, surgery, or periods of instability. By limiting excessive inversion and eversion, the stirrup helps hold the ankle in a controlled, neutral position—supporting recovery while allowing functional movement.
The universal, low-profile design combined with Össur’s Flex-Edge moulding delivers a secure fit with excellent comfort, making it suitable for daily wear inside most footwear.

How the Formfit® Foam Ankle Stirrup Supports Recovery
Effective ankle rehabilitation relies on stability without unnecessary bulk. The Formfit® Stirrup delivers firm medial and lateral support around the ankle joint, helping to control unwanted movement while allowing patients to remain active.
Adjustable straps allow compression to be fine-tuned, supporting swelling control and joint positioning throughout the recovery process.
Comfort and Fit
The Flex-Edge shell is shaped to follow the natural contours of the ankle, helping reduce pressure points. A soft foam lining cushions the malleoli, offering added comfort – particularly useful for sensitive or post-surgical ankles.
Will It Stay in Place?
The brace is designed to be worn over a sock, with a slim strap passing beneath the foot and inside the shoe. Foam cushioning helps prevent movement, reducing the need for repeated adjustment during walking or activity.
Fitting Instructions
To fit the Formfit® Foam Ankle Stirrup:

Step into the brace and check initial positioning

Align the side shells along the ankle and lower leg

Ensure the heel strap sits centrally under the foot

Adjust heel strap width if needed

Hold the stirrups in place and secure the lower strap

Wrap and fasten the upper strap

Re-adjust the lower strap to achieve a comfortable, secure fit
